With the help of Chris Coyier from CSS-Tricks.com I have finally written my website. I started by creating the mockup in Adobe Photoshop. I had a really fun time learning how to use the different styles to make my website look the way I had imagined it. After designing a while I got it to look half decent and decided to put in into html.
I started writing as i watched CSS-Tricks podcast number 13. Got my basic html written on the index.html page, then started with the basic CSS. After the basic’s were done I cropped a piece of the background and set it to repeat. It looked great :). Then I put my header up in the page-wrap, something i had to change later, and went the easy way and just cropped the whole banner. Boom! there it was beautiful!
Then it was time to get the navigation set up. I loved how Chris did his navigation bar so I decided to try it with my own version of design. After about one thousand tries of cropping and saving and cropping and saving and cropping and saving and crop....., I think you get the idea, I got it done. I still don’t know how Chris did it his first try. Well then the navigation was set up and was looking almost great. I still have to do a little fine tuning to get it to look less “blocky”. Then came the time to put the content up.
It was a breeze just some more cropping and saving and it went up in a flash. With a little fine tuning the text was alined and looking good. Then the footer was next. It went up almost as easy as the background for the content. The next part was putting in the side bar. Ill have to put up another post on how this went because it is now 2 am and i want to go to bed.
